The challenge

Collavino Construction faced the challenge of efficiently transporting materials during the construction of 1WTC, the tallest building in the Western hemisphere, while ensuring site safety and managing costs effectively.

Our solution

To address this challenge, Collavino Construction identified Consep’s existing hoist as a potential solution for materials transport on the project site. Consep, recognising the unique requirements of 1WTC, developed the new Consep Hoist. This hoist was tailored to meet the specific needs of the project, including operation on a 3.5-degree inclined building face, increased payload capacity to 2,000kg (4,400lbs), extended hoist travel to service 7 levels and compliance with other specific requirements of the North American market.

The result

With the implementation of the Consep Hoist, Collavino Construction successfully managed materials transport during the construction of 1WTC, enhancing site safety and reducing costs on this high-profile project. The completion of 1WTC in November 2014, standing as one of the tallest buildings globally, stands as a testament to the effectiveness and versatility of the Consep Hoist in facilitating the construction of iconic structures.
