Magnograph® Wire Rope Tester

The ultimate wire rope NDT system

Introducing the Magnograph®, a leading Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) system for wire ropes. Achieve unparalleled precision in detecting corrosion and breaks, exceeding the capabilities of visual inspections. Its user-friendly design allows operation by individuals of all skill levels, providing immediate data and facilitating straightforward post-test analysis.

  • Measure metallic cross-sectional areas (TMA), not just relative loss of metallic areas (LMA).
  • Record and view measurements such as rope mass, kg/m data and corresponding loss percentages in real-time.
  • Local Fault (LF) display always in phase with congruent TMA/LMA signal for clear metallic area loss/gain display
  • Play back all recorded data regardless of whether it was originally displayed on screen.
  • Automatic test set-up and calibration functions.
  • Perform extensive post-test data analysis.

Magnograph® MAG III

The Magnograph® MAG III is optimised for small diameter (up to 45 mm, 1.77” OD), low metallic area (up to 7 kg/m), including wire rope, wireline, slickline and ROV umbilical applications. At just 14kg, portability promotes fast paced servicing.
Metallic rectangular frame housing an industrial device with a black central motor and several smaller mechanical components. The frame has cylindrical rods and appears designed for heavy-duty applications or machinery integration. The background is plain white.

Magnograph® MAG II

The Magnograph® MAG II is designed to test ropes from 12-64mm (1/2 to 2-1/2 inch) diameters at speeds from creep-speed to a safe limit (approximately 3 m/s or 600 ft/min) set by the user. It utilizes 5 different sizes of interchangeable rope guides in the sensor head. The instrument provides simultaneous readings of a rope’s metallic cross-sectional area (both in total and in relative terms) and localized faults, such as broken wires, wire ends, wire nicks and corrosion
